|Special Registration Deadline
The deadline for registration of call-in Group 3 is February 21, 2003. Male nationals or citizens of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia born on or before January 13, 1987 must register if they were inspected by the INS and last admitted to the U.S. as nonimmigrant on or before September 30, 2002, did not have an asylum application pending on December 18, 2002 and will be in the U.S. at least until February 21, 2003.
In addition to pending asylum applicants, there are other individuals who need not register. Those include lawful permanent residents, refugees, diplomats and their dependents, those with diplomatic visas, and representatives and employees from accredited international organizations.
Individuals required to register by this deadline must go to a designated INS office to be photographed, fingerprinted and interviewed under oath. After registering, individuals must report back within 10 days of the anniversary of the initial date of registration. Furthermore, if individuals change addresses, employment or school, they must notify the INS in writing within 10 days of the change, using Form AR-11 SR. If anyone required to register fails to do so, he may be considered to be out of status and deportable.
If you have any questions regarding the special registration process, please contact an attorney.
