On March 14, the U.S. Department of State announced a visa education campaign. The initiative, called "Secure Borders. Open Doors," is aim at providing information on changes to the procedures for obtaining a U.S. visa. A new web site is now in place (www.UnitedStatesVisas.gov) and information will be translated into local languages. The initiative will include instructions on applying for a visa, and updates on policy and procedural changes. The State Department also notes that while the process for obtaining a visa has not substantially changed, applicants should allow additional time for the visa clearance process.
